Thomas Von Koch was born in Switzerland and grew up in the German town of Wertheim, an historic glassmaking center up river from Frankfort on the Main River. after learning scientific glass blowing he started his own glass blowing studio with a friend. It was here that Thomas was able to fashion the sculptures he loved so much. In 2001 Thomas parted ways with his partner and moved to the United states where he founded the WGK Glass Art Inc. in Newark/DE. His little studio quickly grew, and he expanded his team to create a wide variety of art glass sculptures. I still find it amazing that Thomas, and his team can create such wonderful art glass sculptures at such an affordable price. I have been representing Thomas in my gallery for over two years now, and I am so pleased with his work. His realistic dogs are right on, and his whimsical pieces(dogs and cats, as well as other animals) never fail to bring a smile to my face and those of my customers. During Christmas season we hang many of his animals on display for Holiday ornaments and they get a terrific response. I especially love his owls, parrots, cockatoos, and pelicans. His standing animals, such as giraffes, monkeys, roosters a so much fun. Of course Thomas makes dragons that stand and also hang.
His more serious sculptures of devils really create a buzz, and have a very distinct following.
All of Thomas's pieces are extraordinarily colorful and well made. They are hand blown from borosilicate glass. The trade name is Pyrex, so you know they are strong, and will be around for many years.
If you want joy in your life, love fantasy, or are in the need for a gift for an animal lover be sure to check his work.
