Sketch of Window Working Cartoon All Pieces Cut Window Soldered Up
Sometimes designing a stained glass window for a client is easy. The artist and thye client understand one another, and each step is a coaboration. In this case trying to understand exactly what oiur customer wanted was more difficult. By the sixth design we finally had an agreement. As is often the case in these situations the final design was better than the original. During the manufacture we invited the client in at each step.
This window was 34" x 89" at the highest peak. There were two considerations. First the client wanted two Chinese cranes in a lotus pond. The second was that there needed to be a lot of light in the room. We used Bullseye, and Wismach white opalescent glass for the cranes. The glass for the water, lotus, lilly pads, and blossoms was Youghiogheny, and the blue sky was spectrum cathedral.
The window was installed in the original wooden frame with new molding. It was high in the living room, and was able to be viewed from the entry, living room, and the top of the staircase to the second floor. The client was very excited about her window during the complete project, and was thrilled with the final installation. It helped make her first home very special.
